As reimagined by Vice President for Student Affairs Frank Shushok, the new Student Affairs leadership structure is one that champions student success, increases collaboration among departments, highlights key initiatives, emphasizes collective possibility, and aligns the Student Affairs organization for the future.

By the numbers: Student Affairs is comprised of 20 departments and more than 3,600 people who touch nearly every aspect of students’ lives.

January 2021

  • 15: Last day of classes for Winter Session
  • 16: Exams
  • 16-24: Move-in for spring semester
  • 18: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • 19: Spring classes begin online; last day to withdraw to avoid tuition and fee charges
  • 19: Returning undergraduate student housing sign-up begins
  • 21: Applications due for the 2021-2022 Student Affairs scholarship program
  • 22: Last day to complete the general Scholarship Application and 2021-2022 FAFSA to be considered for maximum scholarship and financial aid 
  • 25: Hybrid and in-person instruction begins

February 2021

  • 5: Well-being Day
  • 12: Housing/dining contract due for returning undergraduate students
  • 24: Giving Day, a 24-hour celebration of the Hokie Spirit
  • 25: Well-being Day

March

  • 1: Last day for students to drop a class without grade penalty
  • 16: Web drop/add begins for summer 2021
  • 17: Well-being Day

April

  • 6: Well-being Day
  • 26: Well-being Day

May

  • 5: Last day of classes for spring semester
  • 6: Reading day
  • 7-12: Exams
  • 14: University Commencement Ceremony / college and unit ceremonies
  • 15: College and unit ceremonies 
  • 24: First day of classes for Summer Session I
