Ashley B. Roberts serves as Chief of Operations for Student Affairs and is currently serving in an interim capacity as Chief of Staff. In these roles, she provides leadership and oversight for divisional operations while serving as a strategic advisor and operational partner to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Ashley advances divisional priorities by leading cross-functional initiatives, including divisional events, space audits, strategic plan tracking, and the annual report. As Chief of Staff, she coordinates executive communications and divisional strategy, facilitating alignment across senior leadership and ensuring consistent progress on key priorities.
She leads the planning and execution of VPSA-level initiatives, including leadership meetings, employee engagement efforts, and high-impact divisional projects. Ashley also oversees special projects, manages complex workflows, and supports organizational change to strengthen both operations and culture across the division.
In addition, she supervises the Director of Student Affairs Marketing and Communications, providing consultative leadership to ensure alignment with divisional priorities and guide strategy for advancement communications, internal messaging, and storytelling.
Ashley is committed to strengthening systems that promote transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement—helping the division operate with clarity, purpose, and impact.
Prior to this role, Ashley served as the Director of Communications for Student Affairs at Virginia Tech. Before joining the Virginia Tech community, she held senior communications roles at Kent State University, The George Washington University, and Columbus College of Art and Design. She also brings a strong foundation in admissions and enrollment from her tenure as Associate Director of Admissions at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Ashley holds a Master of Science in Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Dayton and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Bowling Green State University. She is also currently pursuing her doctoral degree in the Foundations of Education program at Virginia Tech.
