Our dedicated team works across the student life sections of campus to ensure a well-maintained, clean, and welcoming environment for all. From residential maintenance to environmental and fire safety, our services are designed with the well-being of our Hokies in mind.

Welcome!

Our daily work directly supports the programmatic efforts of our colleagues in Housing Services, Residential Well-being, Living-Learning Programs, Dining Services, and Student Engagement and Campus Life. Our goal is improving the student experience. At Facilities and Operations, we're not just maintaining residence halls, student centers, and dining halls – we're helping foster a thriving Hokie community.

Emergencies

In the event of an emergency, your first call should be to 911.

  • Residential students: Contact your Student Leader or other Housing Services Staff immediately.
  • Dining Centers and Student Centers: Follow your emergency operational procedures.

You may also contact the Student Affairs Facilities Help Desk at 540-231-1111, or VTPD at 540-382-4343, then submit a work order if possible.


Emergencies include, but are not limited to:

  • Running water: Water overflowing onto the floor, not a stopped-up sink.
  • Electrical problems: Sparks, loss of all room lighting/power.
  • Safety issues affecting life or property: Broken glass in the hall, body spills, inability to secure door/locks.
