Meaghan Davidson

Meaghan serves as the Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students at Virginia Tech. With more than 15 years of experience in higher education, she brings a strong commitment to student success and a deep background in student affairs leadership.

Reporting to the vice president for Student Affairs, the dean of students is Virginia Tech’s foremost student advocate, leading a team of passionate, student-centered educators who support more than 37,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. With a strong focus on facilitating learning and community with and for students, Meaghan and the Dean of Students Office team will work closely with Virginia Tech’s colleges and administrative offices to embrace a focused pursuit of holistic student support, basic needs, and inclusion.

Meaghan will also oversee the New Student and Family Programs Office, Services for Students with Disabilities Office, and Student Conduct as well as First-Generation Student Support programs and the Interfaith Initiative.

Prior to joining Virginia Tech, Meaghan served as Associate Vice President and Dean of Students at Notre Dame of Maryland University. In that role, she led operations and strategic initiatives across the Division of Student Life, overseeing areas such as accessibility, case management, student conduct, counseling, health services, housing and residence life, student inclusion, and engagement. She also developed a behavioral intervention team, implemented a division-wide case management approach, and secured funding for cross-unit data-sharing software.

Earlier in her career, Meaghan spent 11 years at the University of Delaware, where she earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership. There, she revitalized the Student Crisis Fund and collaborated with Development and Alumni Relations to establish an annual giving plan.

Meaghan is actively involved in the student affairs profession. She serves as co-chair for the NASPA Small Colleges & Universities Early Career Development Institute, Region II Strategic Initiatives Chair, and sub-committee chair for the National Conference Knowledge Community Celebrations.

She is passionate about enhancing the student experience and is excited to be part of the Virginia Tech community. Outside of work, Meaghan enjoys hiking, rafting, and spending time outdoors with her partner, two children, and their dogs, Captain and Skipper.
