Student Affairs Facilities and Operations in partnership with and authorized under a delegated authority from the Vice President for Facilities specifying work we can do within the residence halls, dining centers, student centers, and rec sports areas. We are funded by housing and dining revenues and staffed at 160+ salaried positions with numerous student staff and wage positions that vary by season.

Housing Maintenance

Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC journey-level and masters licensed technicians, general troubleshooting and repair specialists

Dining Maintenance

Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC journey-level and masters licensed, specialized dining equipment/refrigeration technicians and general troubleshooting and repair specialists

Housekeeping

Cleaning and sanitation within residence halls and student centers, appliance and dispensary repair and replacement by in-house staff and contract cleaning partners

Operations Work Order Management and Warehousing

HokieServ work order dispatch and management, warehouse operations, purchasing, and inventory management

Health, Fire and Life Safety, and Environmental Quality

Fire safety, inspections, lead and asbestos testing, pest control, mold evaluation/remediation, staff training, generator testing

Access Control

Physical and electronic access control, sign shop

Construction Management

Paint, drywall, flooring, roofing, carpentry, furniture assembly/repair and replacement, moving and special projects

Project Management

Projects from very small renovations to $3M in scope per project, oversight of an intern program, general contractor/project management, and architectural and interior design, with typically 10-12 projects in cycle at any time
