David serves as the Director of Finance and Planning in Student Affairs. In this role he is responsible for managing combined budgets in excess of $200 million across the division. He and his team also provide oversight and coordination of the division’s capital design and construction efforts, which currently includes three major renovations and one new construction project with a combined budget of just under $200 million.

In David’s previous roles throughout his sixteen years at Virginia Tech, he has managed the best housekeepers in school history and an almost equally renowned renovation team. Prior to Student Affairs, he worked in capital construction project management where his projects were recognized at the local, state, and national level for excellence such as the Beamer-Lawson Indoor Practice Facility.

David earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in Civil and Environmental Engineering and later returned to Virginia Tech earning a Master of Business Administration. He has taught in the Pamplin College of Business and is a regular guest lecturer at Virginia Western Community College. He is also the defending Grand Champion of Emory and Henry’s Ampersand Day BBQ contest.
