Student Affairs Communications

Hub Instructional Page

The Student Affairs SharePoint site has officially been relaunched with a refreshed look and a new name — the Student Affairs Communication Hub! This new site — also accessible off the SA Quicklinks page — is where you will find all of the latest divisional news and announcements, as well as the divisional calendar and relevant discussion topics.

In the Hub, you will find our events, new hire announcements, news, and the Student Affairs event calendar.

Sign up for notifications

When you sign up for notifications, they will be directly delivered to your inbox! When "News" or "Events" are added to the site, you can receive those announcements straight to your email without having to visit the Hub each day.

Sign up for news and event alerts

  • Go to My Alerts
  • Click "Add Alert"
  • For "News Alerts" — select "Site Pages" and click next
  • For "Event Alerts" — select "Events" and click next
  • Optional: Type an alternate name for your alerts (i.e. News Alerts)
  • Next choose your settings by selecting when and how often you would like to be notified.
  • Press "Ok"
  • Check your inbox for a set-up alert confirmation email

How to use the hub

The Communications Hub will be your one-stop shop to find information from around the division — so make sure to follow the site too! Click the three dots in the top right of the page and click "follow" or if you only see “follow” select it. Anyone at Virginia Tech can see this page, but only Student Affairs employees can add to the Hub.

Adding to the hub

As an employee you can:

  • Add Events to the Calendar — or any opportunities happening in your office, Student Affairs, the community, or professional organizations. You can add directly to the calendar by adding to the "Events" section.
  • Post Your New Hires — add your new team members so everyone can welcome them to Student Affairs!
  • Share Your News — share your announcements and upcoming opportunities.

To start adding to the Hub, we recommend watching the Communications Hub Tutorial first.
