Covid Testing - Blacksburg

Per President Tim Sands' message on Janurary 31:

"We continue to encourage everyone in our community to be vaccinated, get a booster dose as soon as you’re eligible, and report any updates to your vaccination status to the university. Vaccines remain our best protection against COVID-19 and boosters are an important tool in combatting the omicron variant. Masking and public health protocols remain fully in place. We will discontinue mandatory testing for students, but will continue to provide voluntary testing and strongly encourage testing if you are symptomatic or have been exposed to COVID-19. Students should coordinate with Schiffert Health Center for testing. Employees should work with their local health care provider or the Virginia Department of Health. Further updates will be shared on the Ready site and through the Virginia Tech Daily Email. We encourage students to report information through VT Notify."

When can I test?

Testing times can be found on the VT Ready site.

Do I need to make an appointment, or may I walk up to a testing site?

You need to make an appointment through VTNotify before arriving at a testing site. Appointment dates will be available in VTNotify until all slots are full for the day.

If I am experiencing symptoms, what should I do?

If you are a student and experiencing symptoms, you must contact Schiffert Health Center at 540-231-6444 to schedule an appointment. VTNotify testing is only for non-symptomatic individuals. Your test through Schiffert Health Center will count towards your weekly testing requirement. If you are an employee, you need to contact either your primary care physician or the New River Department of Health to schedule a test.

How do I find my test results and how long do they take?

If you tested through VTNotify your results take 48-72 business hours to process. When your results are returned, you will receive a secure message from VTNotify to your VT email address to check your VTNotify portal. Positive results will be notified through the Healthy Hokies Portal through a secure message.

How can I reschedule my VTNotify appointment?

To reschedule your appointment, log in to VTNotify. Your appointments are listed at the bottom of the Appointment page. You can cancel and reschedule your appointment here.

I have tested positive for COVID-19. What do I do?
