Ashley Roberts
With over ten years of experience in strategic marketing and communications, Ashley is a passionate and data-driven leader who thrives on creating impactful and engaging content for diverse audiences in the higher education sector. As the Director of Communications for Student Affairs at Virginia Tech, she oversees the division’s central communications team and department-level communicators. She leverages various platforms and tools to craft compelling stories that showcase the power of possibilities and service at Virginia Tech.
In her role, Ashley acts as the chief communications and public relations officer, providing strategic leadership and vision. She is a key member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team, collaborating closely with the Student Affairs Advancement team to promote institutional goals, fundraising efforts, and alumni and parent engagement.
Before joining Virginia Tech, Ashley was the Senior Assistant Director of Communications at Kent State University, where she played a pivotal role in the Enrollment Management division. Her extensive experience in marketing and communications also includes positions at The George Washington University and Columbus College of Art and Design. Additionally, Ashley has a strong background in admissions and recruitment, having served as the Associate Director of Admissions at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Ashley holds a Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Dayton and a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Bowling Green State University.
