Hugs For Hokies

A transition out of virtual learning and worldwide isolation last year left many people longing for connection. The amazing local parents of our community decided to offer hugs to students on campus, and thus Hugs for Hokies was born. Under the guidance of New Student and Family Programs, this program provides connection and comfort for students and helps to educate them on further resources such as Cook Counseling Center and other mental health resources, as sometimes a hug isn't enough.

We are excited to be partnering with The Market of Virginia Tech, an assistance program that provides ingredients for healthy meals for Virginia Tech students facing food insecurity. The Market will provide food donations and snacks at most Hugs for Hokies events.

Hugs for Hokies volunteers go through a thorough background check and vetting process. Events typically occur monthly throughout the academic year.
