Joining a campus of impact
A student's perspective
Before even stepping foot on campus, I knew Virginia Tech was the place for me. However, I could never have predicted the impact this university would really make. From the campus and Hokie Spirit to the motivating academics, I was wrapped in. That first semester of my first year will forever leave a mark on me. Living in the dorms, I was fully immersed in the Hokie community. Here is where I found some of my best friends I’ve been lucky enough to have stuck by my side ever since.
I also joined Tri Delta, a community where I was surrounded by like-minded girls who were even more passionate and motivated than me. I wanted to make more of an impact, so I became my sorority's assistant PR chair and gained knowledge and experience within my field of study.
Entering my junior year, I began to work for Hokie Wellness as the assistant social media manager intern. This experience has been incredibly fulfilling because it has allowed me to make a direct impact on fellow Hokies while being fully immersed in campus life. Through campus interviews and content creation, I always kept student wellness at the forefront, striving to make someone's day just a little brighter. I even created my own social media series, “Sunday Reset,” as a way to incorporate healthy habits in any college student's hectic routine.
There is something special about attending Virginia Tech, but it feels even more meaningful when you know you’ve made an impact within such a large university. Along the way, I’ve met incredible people, taken advantage of amazing opportunities, and built a college experience that has been both rewarding and unforgettable. Looking ahead to senior year is a great moment to reflect on my past three years here. What I have learned so far is to seize every opportunity with confidence – and to go to every single football game!
